Nilani Somadasa
Having multidisciplinary qualifications in Law and Business Management, Nilani received her professional education at Sri Lanka Law Collage and was admitted to the Bar in 1997. Thereafter she obtained her Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wales, United Kingdom. She started her career as a Junior Counsel to some of the leading Presidents’ Counsels in Sri Lanka and mainly practiced in the Appellate and the Superior Courts. Later she went on to develop a chamber practice of her own and now specializes mainly in negotiating and settling of major commercial and corporate contracts locally and internationally.
As part of her academic work, Nilani has conducted extensive research in the areas of risk and financial markets and authored unpublished work titled “Difference in Risk Tolerance Levels of Individual Investors in Sri Lanka” and has in depth knowledge of the changing global financial markets, behavioral finance, investment and risk analysis and portfolio management.
She is a life member of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka, the Commonwealth Society, Women’s Chamber of Industry & Commerce and Women in Management of Sri Lanka.
